Biography

Sarah 's musical Ballad of Little Jo, written with Grammy award winner Mike Reid opened to rave reviews at the Bridewell Theatre in London in July 2003 and was hailed by Critic Domenic Cavendish in the The Daily Telegraph "as two and half hours of  unmitigated brilliance ."  Prior to itsLondon run, The Ballad of Little Jo was produced at  Steppenwolf as its first musical to celebrate its 25th Anniversary. With Mr Reid, she has also written Different Fields, which was commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera Guild and Prairie Songs commissioned by the Amernet Quartet. She was also the lyricist librettist for Love Comics which premiered at the George Street Playhouse, produced by Daryl Roth, and Swing Shift at the Manhattan Theatre Club. She has been the recipient of the Kleban Award for Best Lyricist, The Richard Rodgers Award, a Gilman-Gonzalez Falla Theatre Foundation Award, a Jeff Award for best original musical, the David Payne Carter Teaching Award and a University Distinguished Teacher Award. She and Mr. Reid are currently writing the score for a new musical , Casanova Returns, which has just been chosen as one of  the six works to be showcased inCardiff,Wales at the Global Search for New Musicals, 2006. They have also written book, music and lyrics for In This House, a new chamber musical in collaboration with director and bookwriter Jonathan Bernstein.
