CHEER WARS, a new musical written by Gordon Leary (Book & Lyrics - Cycle 16) & Karlan Judd (Music - Cycle 17) was honored with the 2009 Richard Rodgers Developmental Award for musical theatre. The awards provide financial support for productions, studio productions, or staged readings of original musicals by nonprofit theaters in New York City. This year's jury included Stephen Sondheim (chair), Lynn Ahrens, John Guare, Sheldon Harnick, David Ives, Richard Maltby, Jr., and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
